Upgraded my U.D.S. ' core ' system from one rod right down the middle to three in a tripod sorta setup. Much more stable. Stands on its own for loading and lighting.Oh , and a funky paint job !

My basket is held in place on a threaded rod ( next time I would use 3 rods ) by nuts and washers. You can move it up by moving up nuts and washers.But I have found this is kinda slow goin and if I was gonna grill alot I would devise some kinda clamp/quick - connect
I confess , I cheat too. Usually I get my meat at the market or butcher rather than slaughter and butcher it myself ! ( o.k. I know sum a ya do ! ) but in the burbs of cali not likely !
Thats what so sweet about these things. They are sort of a hybrid imho. The meat sits and sizzles and drips juices into the fire causing more smoke/steam goodness !Which I'm thinking knoks the heat back incrementaly.at least seams to.
