I saw this once at the Calgary Stampede Rodeo, around 1969. Except, instead of children, the riders were monkeys wearing small cowboy hats.
My guess is, it was deemed too dangerous for the monkeys.
I used an insulation blanket when I had my GMG that had a chimney. Worked fine.
Now I have a Recteq Backyard Beast with the vents in the back of the chamber. Too windy today to fire it up, but I'm hoping it'll be alright in the cold. Rarely gets below 25°F here, even in the dead of Winter.
No snow yet in the lowlands of the PNW, but we're at the beginning of an "atmospheric river" that's supposed to dump up to 6" of rain in the few days. All in all, I'd rather have the rain than the snow. At least I can drive my Challenger in the rain.
I like using dried Hatch chilie flakes that I buy at Trader Joe's.
Also used a Black Forest spice blend once, that was pretty good.
Otherwise, if I'm not doing straight maple flavor, it's just coarse ground pepper.
Well, not condoning it, but both of them croaked when he was making a brisket for a large gathering. So I can see why he'd be a bit upset. Also, he previously had a larger Pit Boss that didn't last long, either.
Having the family over to my new place. That includes the ex, my son, my daughter and both grandsons. Meathead son-in-law is supposed to be working that day, but I'm guessing that with free food involved, he'll find a way to attend.
