It should go directly into the wall outlet, or better use a separate control like this...

Harbor freight sells the same thing for a bit less if you have one nearby.
The control lets you slow down smoke...
I don't know why anyone cuts an access hole when it is trivial to drill out the pop rivets, do whatever you want, then pop rivet it back together. Or do what I did and screw it back together with #10x1/2 sheet metal screws so it is serviceable in the future. 3/8 length would be even better.
If you are running a Rex-100 based PID on your smoker, you could switch it to cooling mode. Keep an eye out for a cheap used mini-fridge or wine cooler that uses Peltier cells* on Craigslist or wherever. Bypass the controls (I hear you're an expert at that ;) ) and change the cycle time to a...
I've used various brands of these and all have been able to be switched to Fahrenheit. The exact method varies somewhat, but it is selected from a different setup menu than the one where you set P, I, D, and others. You will need to press two buttons (set plus left or up,) and hold them for a...
In a 100% humid environment, the meat will still sweat due to proteins contracting and expelling moisture, but since it cannot evaporate, the moisture would simply drip off. No stall, at least due to evaporative cooling. I think part of the stall is due to the heat being absorbed to convert...
Last two houses I bought came with a trash compactor. There's only my wife and I so the trash sits around way too long, if you catch my drift. Out with the compactor, in with the undercounter wine fridge.

Carefully measure the voltage across the element with the smoker turned on. It may be the controller, or the safety switch. If there is 120V (or whatever your local power company provides) across the element, and it is not hot, the element is bad.
I have great results from my Bradley, but a smoke ring is not one of them. The pucks generate smoke flavor, but they are not combusted at the temperatures needed to create the quantities of nitric oxide and carbon monoxide necessary for smoke ring production. It is a cosmetic item, and if that...
