You will have to close up the bottom of the box and have some type of control for how much air gets in the box. You will not be able to get up to heat and you will not be able to control the heat with any part of the box open. Even with the 60 degree or higher ambeint temperatures your burner...
I have a masterbuilt smoker and love using it. If I have a down side to it I think it has some issues of even heat. If you have a very full smoker you sure want to maintain a water bath in the smoker to even the heat. Otherwise I love!! Set the heat and time and pretty much forget it.
