Extending the exhaust will be easier than adding pipe between the AMNPS and the box, I'll give it a try as soon as I can, thanks.

I just had a thought. I have some firebrick laying around, I might try putting it on top of a table , and setting the CBS and AMNPS on top of it, to keep it out of the damp. Any thoughts?

Pretty bummed myself. The AMNPS worked quite well just sitting in the bottom of my grill, I really think it was the dampness that got me. I may try the grill setup again, just to get some of the bacon done.

Welcome, Gary! Well, the AMNPS just went out again. I put everything in the fridge. It'll be Friday afternoon before I can try again. It is 33 degrees and raining here, even with the smoker sitting just inside the garage (detached!), I think the dampness is defeating the AMNPS. The long-range...

Well, I have a soldering iron, and if this doesn't work out I'll sacrifice a can of tuna to the bacon gods! Too much bacon to give up now.

Well, kinda disappointed right now. The AMNPS went out at about the four hour mark, I chalked it up to the dampness. I nuked the pellets and relit it. I got caught up in some family stuff, and it went out again, sometime between the 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 mark. This time, I relit AND opened up the...

    Bellies

I have pretty much the same, just not as old. I'll have to cut my bellies down to fit the slicer. Mine too. At least I have the other half's support in this, we are trying to be as self-sufficient as possible on food.

    Bellies

Thanks for the update. I used Pops brine myself, hickory chips and then Amazen Pitmaster pellets, loved them both. Hope mine slices up as nice as yours!

The temp has stayed steady at 5 degrees above ambient, and it's only 36 here right now. I wouldn't mind a better quality of smoke.... Thanks, John. Being a DIY type, and cheap, I'll probably build a slightly smaller version of Pop's smokehouse. I have a PID temp controller, so I'll most likely...

Noob's 1st smoke - BACON! with Qview, sorta

I'm actually a toolmaker by trade, was a US Army supply sergeant for 12 years, thus the screenname. But the square corners and round stack are all due to the manufacturers, not my skill!

Noob's 1st smoke - BACON! with Qview, sorta

Ummmm.... about an hour and $11! I did a build thread in "other builds"

Thanks, David! I actually have a thread with Qview over in the Bacon section, and I'll update this thread after I finish the first smoke.

Did you ever get it sliced up? Looks great in the fridge!

I have a bunch of bacon to smoke, and my grill/AMNPS combo wasn't cutting it. So, I followed in the footsteps of others here, and made this: Box was $2, tape $8, tube was free.... total cost $11. Works well, so far!
