That depends on the person Dave... For me the Tube works good in that it puts out the right amount of smoke and stays lit, whereas the Maze doesn't put out enough smoke and sometimes stays lit and sometimes it goes out more often than it stays lit. I spent almost a year fighting the Maze and...
I have the same Sam's Smoker with legs, but didn't realize that it is that Model No.
Bought it a year ago this month along with the extended warranty and have had no problems with it to date....
I posted earlier that I didn't think the Smoker in picture was a 2.5, but Bear said it is, judging...
You can get your Pellets from the same place and you can also get them from here ...

Thanks Bear, I am going to try that the next time I smoke. I had thought about it a few times, but that is all I did was "thought about it. Now that I know it will work, I will try it.
It makes a lot of sense to me when I think about it .... Maze over chip tray and chip loader pulled out...
Yes, I would spend the extra $30 because the 2.5's work better with their oval water pan and seem to be more problem free. I have had both the 2.0 and 2.5 and the 2.5 wins hands down.
The water pan is the main difference.
The Maze will work in both.
If you have a Sams Warehouse nearby, I would opt for the newer 2.5. They are $329 plus they have legs whereas the others don't. I would also get the extended 3 year warranty for $30 since Masterbuilt only has a 90 day warranty.
Hmmm... I have always had my Maze on the left and never tried it on the right side. So for me to be clear here Bear, on the 2.5 like you and I own, you place the Maze on the right above the chip pan, is that correct?
The link you show is a late model 2.0 Smoker. On the later models, they moved the exhaust opening from the side to the top. Also in the later models, I "think" all parts are replaceable like the new 2.5 models, whereas the models before it weren't.
Yes and no
Yes if you use wood chips in the chip loader
No if you use a Maze or Tube from A-MAZE-N Products or The VORTEX from http://www.smokedaddyinc.com/products/wood-pellets/item/103-vortex-blend-pellets.html ... Then in these 2 cases, you load the Maze, Tube or Vortex one time, light it...
That is one of the latest smokers in the Masterbuilt series and most if not all people that have bought it love it. I have one myself. The warranty on it is 90 days, but Sams offers a 3 year warranty for $30, and most people will suggest you get it when you buy the smoker. Used correctly, you...
I nuke mine in my micro wave for 2 minutes per time for 2 times on most woods except fruit woods, and on fruit woods 3 times. and it works perfectly for me.
Hmmm ... Using a chunk might give a lighter smoke for a longer time like the Pellets do and not flood the MES like chips do, depending on the size of the chips with heavy smoke and then no smoke 10-15 minutes later. I never thought of trying that before switching to Pellets. I could still try...
I knew that Bear. No offense was intended ... No sweat about it ... Like you, I was only wanting others to know that I don't care about the smoke ring since it does nothing for the meat and taste.
Tube has more and bigger holes, thus allowing more oxygen which makes the pellets burn better.
View Vortex here ....

Get the Tube from Todd at amazen products and it should stay lit. I had the same problem with the tray, so switching to the Tube solved the problem. However, I ordered the Vortex Smoker to see if it will sty lit plus put out more smoke than the tube, should I want more smoke.
