The majority of people don't even use 4 racks let alone 6 racks. Six racks may be better for people that smoke jerky, I don't know, so if a person feels they need 6 racks, then they need to spend $100 more and get the one at Bass Pro Shops. Exact same smoker as the 4 rack ones, but has 6 racks.
That is the one that many are buying. I have that same one as well as many other users in this forum have it. Best price for a 40" BT that you will find plus it has legs whereas all others don't. You can get a 6 shelf from Bass Pro Shops for $100 more and no legs.
If I bought one of these little grills, I was thinking of putting the AMPNS inside this Charcoal Grill.
The picture of this set up is from someone else's post here. However I thought it neat and unique. so I copied and pasted it here for others to see and their opinions between the mailbox and...
Once you get your window really clean, don't forget to coat it with Rain X to repel the moisture while smoking, as Bear posted in this tread a few days ago.

I have a 40" Smoker and place them on the 3rd shelf from the top. I think others place them on the second shelf from the top, but not sure of that. Either place will work.
When smoking with chips, some people say they still have smoke coming out of their MES at 30-40 minutes, whereas they really have steam coming out and not smoke. The only exception to this would be if the MES wasn't hot enough when they put the chips in to make smoke. Then having heated up hot...
When I used to use chips, I put them in every 20 minutes the first hr, then every 30 minutes the next hr and the following hr, depending what I was smoking and how long I intended to smoke. Nothing after 3 hrs. I sprayed ribs with water and wrapped my ribs in foil after 3 hrs.
Dennis, glad you are fully recovered and up and about again. I am recovering from my back surgery on Thursday of this week to repair another fractured vertebrae. that is the 3rd time in the past 2 years. Limited to 10# of lifting for 8 weeks, so I am not smoking on my BT at the moment.
I don't...
I noticed lately that you haven't been on here and was thinking about messaging you to see why.
With my not being the "smartest tool in the shed", what do you mean here that Masterbuilt changed their Bluetooth Format?
I do my baby back ribs at 230-235 degrees for 3 hrs and then spray with water and foil them and put pack in for 1 1/2 hrs. I've tried spraying them with apple juice, but prefer the water better.
I could be wrong, but I believe the Model NO 20070910 is a Gen 1 Smoker with the box on top having square corners and not rounded corners that later ones had.
Rick, that isn't quite right on the 2.5 smoker. I have the new BT Gen 2.5 smoker and I have found it necessary to pull out the chip loader in order to keep my AMNP lit.
I may be wrong here, but I think Bear has placed his Maze on the bottom rack on some of his smokes. I think he uses mostly...
I never had a problem with the cayenne in Jeff's rub, but did in his sauce, so I leave it in the rub, but delete it from his sauce as well as the Tabasco also. FYI, I also altered the other ingredients in his sauce a bit as well as added one he didn't have in it and everyone that has tasted it...
The reason people recommend getting the warranty at Sams is because Masterbuilt only warrants your Smoker for 90 days and an extended warranty for $30 at Sams warrants it for 3 years, which is cheap at only $10 a year.
I can't confirm it is a 2.5 because I can't see the water pan in the picture, but I have to agree with what Bear said and without seeing the water pan but seeing the Sun Shield over the control box, I would guess that it could be a 2.5.
BTW, for $30 more you can get a 40" with legs at Sams.
