    Well, the trailer mounted smoker has been put on hold, due to an unforseen skateboarding incident on the part of the customer. Since I figure it would be easier to store it in subassemblies until he is ready to pick it up, work on it has temporarily ceased. What to do with my time? I got it...

    Spent a little time prototyping the fire box door locking mechanism. I may need to tweak it very slightly, maybe change some hardware and design the handle, but otherwise...I like it! It's solid and eye catching (I think).

    I've seen those latches, and had given them some thought. I will probably use something similar for the cook chamber access door, but I wanted something a bit more stout for the fire box. This rig is going to end up many states away, and being a first attempt, l am favoring an over-engineered...

    You are 100% correct. It's going to weigh a bit. Just the skin (no weld, brackets, grates, etc) will end up right around 900 lbs. I'm guessing it'll end up between 1300-1500 when all is said and done. Not counting the trailer. When I began, my biggest concern was making sure that the...
