    Shotguns! Can We Chat?!

I just skimmed everything and I would say that at 16yr 12ga probably isn't an issue, just pick your loads for what you want to do and like said earlier if he ever want's to shoot 3.5in magnum loads he can. I can't complain about my Benelli Super Nova but I don't always shoot it great but there...

    couple deer roasts

Look great, thanks for sharing. I have been watching the rest temp thing and it is suprising how it will climb like yours did and hold its color and tenderness. My backstrap roasts I did for Thanksgiving came put of the oven at the 135-140 ballpark, I didn't monitor the climb this time but by...

    A Wild (Game) Weekend

To each their own. I figure if someone doesn't feel like I cooked it enough for them they are welcomed to put their piece on the hot pan and get it their way.

    A Wild (Game) Weekend

Don't have finished sliced picture but after butchering and package my daughter's deer yesterday we decided to make one of the whole backstrap for Thanksgiving go go with all the other food. Deer was shot Nov 20th, skinned, quarter and into the fridge to rest with a little air flow available...

    Hunting And Fishing Thread!?!

Well daughter number 2 got a shot. I thought she smoked it when I saw fur fly and how the blood started looked promising. Decided to back out after it quickly got less and waited for a buddy and give it a couple hours. Long story short no recovery following pin prick blood (suprising we found...

    Hunting And Fishing Thread!?!

The 6.5 Gredel strikes again! Last night our oldest daughter pulled the trigger for the 3rd year in a row making it 3yrs, 3 shots, 3 deer. Her younger sister was with this time learning. Now tonight we will see if she can repeat her sister's luck. Hunting has been tough going this year with low...

    Hunting And Fishing Thread!?!

Heck yeah. I'm just waiting for the lakes to freeze up here to go chasing fish, my favorite are crappie and bluegills with some LMB mixed in.

Homemade Chili + Cinnamon Rolls = WOW

Wife made some Chili for supper and added a little cinnamon, I could smell it as soon as I walked into the house as I am pretty sure I have used that trick before. It was ok chili with crappy store bought burger, likely from Walmart. I added a good dose of hot sauce and worked for me, some Jiffy...

    Favorite Store Bought Hot Sauces

Could it possibly be "Big Deck". There is a Fargo company that makes various products, their Fargocoa seasoning is pretty good and they have another that is similar to Tetonka Dust

    Favorite Store Bought Hot Sauces

I am careful on the habanaro products sometimes. I would recommend this as a moderate heat or a touch higher.

    Favorite Store Bought Hot Sauces

Had to resupply my Cajun Sunshine Hot Sauce. Decided to try the Yucatan as well, not really as hot as I expected but so far so good on flavor. Wife and I are thinking we need to make up some basic wings and do some comparisons

    Grinding deer meat, die size?

For your freezer dilemma I would recommend an upright. When mine was still working I much preferred that to a chest freezer and that fit the best at my old house. Unfortunately mine died a couple years ago and I'm down to the old chest freezer at the farm house and 2 fridge freezers.

    Grinding deer meat, die size?

Very well said. I have been with friends that think all the "crap" is good grind, I can tell a huge difference in my products vs others that give me some of theirs that they say is "great". My scraps don't go to waste as we have farm cats that deserve a treat now and then too

2025 Hunting Trip Done w/ Animal Pics

I haven't dug into it too much but if a rifle stabilizes a 150-180gr cup and core then a 130 Mono should be just fine. You are correct that powders might change a little but that is part of the tinkering I guess. The Hammer bullets have got me intrigued as well lately so if you haven't looked at...
