    Hi, Nice to see a fellow UK northerner on here. I will bear that info in mind if I ever build a second UDS.  Here is an update where my current first UDS is upto, this was on the 9th of May 2015.  Its come to a standstill at the moment while I wait for my friend to bring over the coal basket...

    Almost there. Yea a friend took care of the basket and i did the barrel. Hopefully fire it up next weekend

    Ok an update on the drum. Managed to get a spare lid although i had a nightmare getting a nice snug way for it to fit. I the end i bought an aluminium strip of metal and bolted it around the top inside rim of the drum for the lid to sit on. Here is its current state, not much left to do!

    Thanks I have a black high heat paint made by rustoleum also. I wont bother buying a primer too. Thank you

    Ok finally finished sanding the thing.  Up next primer then painting while I wait for the lid to arrive. (Also is a primer necessary with a high heat resistant stove aerosol paint?

    Haha i agrea that took about 40minutes. I look to getting one when im out and about. I take it people dont bother sanding the inside too

    Thanks guys. I brought the barrel inside after burning it out. I have jet washed it down tonight, fully dried it inside and out. I have began sanding the outside only down which is hard work. Once the sanding is complete I will prime it then spray it with a high heat paint. My grills arrived...
