Fist Bump from Minnesota, Just got my Masterbuilt 30-Inch Smoker.

Welcome aboard from a former (albeit brief) resident of Minnesota. For your first smoke, chicken is a popular choice but honestly make what you are in the mood to eat, just start out with less expensive cuts of meat while you are learning times, temps, etc... Happy smokin'!

I'm a Recruiter, Headhunter, Talent Acquisition Specialist or whatever term is popular at the moment but more or less I find people for jobs.

    Winter be gone

I am hoping Winter here in Ohio has finally left town...have been 45+ for about a week now and the snow is mostly melted. Going to be about 50 on Saturday and finally going to get the WSM I purchased a couple months ago fired up. I did throw sime ribs on the ECB a couple times this winter but...

    Hello again.

Welcome Back! I'm in a similar boat as I just re-introduced about a month ago when I got my new smoker.

    Minion Method Question

Thanks for your replies. I'll probably give it a try by filling it halfway up the sides this time around and see what happens...it's all about trial and error is definitely one thing I've learned time and time again.

    Minion Method Question

So, the new WSM is getting it's first workout this weekend and also going to try the minion method for the first time. I have read up and can't seem to find the answer to one question. I am anticipating this to be a 4 - 6 hour smoke and am using Kingsford briquettes with cherry and hickory...

    Smoking for the guests

Looks amazing! I will definitely have to add that to my list of things to try! Welcome!

    Burgers

I think it is sort of an "Eat at your Own Risk" thing and if you look, a lot of restaurants will have an asterisk in the burger/steak sections especially pointing to fine print somewhere on the menu that says eating raw or undercooked meat is at your own risk. I don't remember the exact wording...

    1st Brisket Questions

Best estimate is about 1.5 hours per pound but don't be surprised if it takes longer than that. I had a 9 pounder take almost 2 hours per pound last summer and I was holding a fairly steady 225. As for foil and cooler, absolutely you can. I have only done 3 briskets thus far but have finished...

Movies you watch over and over?

I'm a movie fan as well and tend to want to find new ones but the ones I tend to turn on (may or may not watch from start to finish) are the Bourne movies, the Ocean's movies, and Shawshank. It's funny because if you asked me to name my 5 or 10 favorite movies, I'm not sure any of these make the...

Beer of Choice when Manning The Smoker?

I tend to usually have Coors Light on hand as my go to. I also enjoy most of the Leinenkugel varieties as well...Summer Shandy on a hot summer day by the smoker is easily my favorite though.

    Fatties

Never even thought to try it...but I just might have to. If you get to it before me, let me know how it goes.  On a Cincinnati note...I did a Skyline fatty many years ago that turned out great!

    Just got a great deal

Thanks! Also, scored a ThermoFuture wireless meat thermometer yesterday for about 75% off so set up a lot better for this season now than I have been in the past. Hopefully some of my QViews will actually be worth posting this year!

    Just got a great deal

I just scored an 18.5 WSM off of Craig's List, new in box for 1/2 off of retail. It's going to be a great smokin' year now!  Sorry, had to share my excitement with others that would appreciate it. Now, how do I break the news to my ECB

    Hello Again

So, I've technically been a member for about a year and a half but I've posted a total of 2 times, moved 800 miles and just recently realized how I doubt that I've ever smoked anything properly even though I've made several rounds of ribs, fatties, ABTs, smoked meatballs, and a couple of...

Time to graduate from the ECB

So, I've been smoking for about a year now and I'm ready to graduate from the ECB. I did the mods to it but feel it is a PITA when it comes to adding charcoal/wood especially for long smokes. I'm a weekend smoker and looking to try new things to add to my repertoire so ideally I would like to...
