    High Temp paint in Fire Box ??

    I have a rusty bottom to my firebox. I’ve steel brushed, and wheel ground out 95% of it. But there is still some surface rust. Use High Temp paint ? (2,000 degrees). Or just Stop and cover it in peanut oil?

    External and internal rust...

    Last week I bought a New Braunfels BD as a restore project for my son. He’s been sanding off the external rust by hand... we are at the point of diminishing returns. Can we build a fire in the fire box and burn some of that internal and external rust away? And then use some high temp paint...

    Which rack to use on vertical smoker ?

    Happy Mother’s Day !! Q: I have a vertical smoker that I recently bought. I’m going to be cooking two racks of ribs today. Is there a difference between which level of the vertical smoker the meat is put on? Should it be on the higher racks, or the lower racks, or is there any difference?

    When are wood chunks no longer useful?

    New smoker here... I’ve used my smoker 3x now, and I have some left over wood chunks in the smoke tray. When do I toss them out ? Should they go down to complete dust/ash?
