Looking for quick feedback
I have been shopping for a gas smoker when I came across this charcoal display at 50% off. That would make it $64. Any info on this? It's a Royal Oak here is the link. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=5508760 I do not see a firebox option for this.- chubbs

Thank you brianj...very helpful. I was reading that walmarts were thinner - cheaper. I'll spend the xtra 40 and get the one for Gander. I have 2 weeks off for xmas and New Years...I want to do some smoking.- chubbs

I was in the local Gander MTN. today and saw that they had the Smoky Mountain 30in. electric for $99. The 34in. propane was $130. I'm looking to upgrade from the Big Chief so I can do larger meats and not just jerky. Would the propane be the better way to go?- chubbs

Outside temp was 20 degrees Relative humidity 100 % Big Chief Smoker "No Water used" Smoking jerky should I use water? I did use lava rocks...should I add sand? I was hesitant to check the jerky near the end because it took so long to restore the core temp. a few times earlier. Just...- chubbs

100 Percent Humidity
How much can humidity affect cooking times? I did my first smoke last week in a Big Chief. It was 20f outside. I put a cardboard box around the BC to help insulate it. cooking temp varied but then reached about 200* for last 2 hrs. or so. I did venison jerky...outside looked a bit charred but...- chubbs

Masterbuilt 7n1 smoker
Tall Fat Crippled one.. Can you tell me anymore about the 7 in 1? I just saw one for sale for $125 and it was the Stainless Steel version too. Do you need to insulate it for winter use? Is $125 worth it or should I not bother with it? Anyone? Chubbs- chubbs

Full freezer and a smoke dream
I am new here. I got a freezer full of venison and a used Big Chief Top loader that I rescued. Looking forward to trying it out (25F) this weekend. I could use some set-up info. I have the smoker, rack and AC plug. No water bowl. Plus, do I need lava rocks in the bottom or just toss the wood...
