Hi texag93
You seem to answered your own question about the rust concern....my black MES which is going on 4 years old has no rust on it but is stored and operated inside my shed...my larger sized MES is stainless and no problems with it either but I think it is easy to keep looking nice.
As...

I noticed this is your first post on SMF....It is the norm here to have all new folk intro themselves on the roll call thread

I have not had experience with the bradley but my concept of it is that maintaining the wood is rather automatic.....the downside is that you must use bradleys "pucks" which are ground up stuff and reprted as pricey....
I currently have the 30" MES which is black in finish but stainless...
Hi Hassy, no have not gotten a response from Siggy. I asked him to PM but to no avail
Really wish that I could advise you on what size to order for the heaters....Think that the series connection will extend the life of the heaters as they are not being pressed to their temp limits nearly as...
My cheese smoking method: set the temp controller to 100*, set the time to 0, then the digital controller will read the internal temp down to as low as 32* the " contraption" will raise the internal above the ambient temp that you are having on any given day (very slowly). So I set a few...
Bump for Siggy
How are you getting along on the project?
I can tell you that it has become my preferred operational method for all smokes. the thing works well and simplifies the procedure for obtaining the amount of smoke you desire at all temp ranges!
I am sure that you are aware of an explosive atmosphere that can be present inside that tank.
The Compressor that put all that compressed air in there for storage has passed along some lubricating oils also.
Just be careful my friend
Are you referring to a boneless restructured ham that is crusty on the outside and usually comes with an elastic netting around it?
You can smoke these after removing the netting and leave the crusty where it is.
My experience is they are not nearly as good as the regular pre-cooked ones
This is the first reported failure that has been posted on SMF about a controller failure that I know of.
Doubt whether there is a fix other than replacement.
If you would report the outcome of cost and experience with Masterbuilt on this issue we would be grateful.
The better half here will not allow putting the smoker parts in the dishwasher.
Wish she would as it is rather cold sometimes getting the power washer out
Surely think the dishwasher idea would work good
Might get a large trash container and turn the thing upside down over the MES add a bungy...
Masterbuilt has included safe operating instructions with the owners manual....No one should advise you to do other than what they recommend.
That said I can tell you what I do with mine even though I don't recommend or advise that others do as I do.
I use it indoors in a metal and wood shed...
The inside is the same on both which is stainless...Seems like the stainless outer shell is another $50.
I have the powder coated black outer shell and no problems.
My smoker is older than yours but I assume the controller on the top is the same.
There is a green LED that shows you have it turned on and a red LED that shows when the heater is operating.
Both are on the controller the green LED will go on or off as you push the on/off button. the Red LED...
I have had my MES for about 2 years. It works just fine from no water to full of water in the pan .
That being said 1/4 full is about right but not relevant to the problem you report.
