Awesome! Thanks for the input. I'm going to order one for $18 and free shipping, don't think I can really go wrong at that price. Just want something faster than my Taylor which takes 10-12 seconds and at times goes all goofy with cutting off / on and switching to celceius after it's been used...
Right now I can get the thermopen for $63, the javelin for $18 and the Thermopop for $21. Wondering what to do, think $18 Lavatools with free shipping may be the way to go.
Great to hear. I read reviews on the lava tools and the only negatives I've really found are the lack of a backlight and a shorter probe. Have you had any problems with the shorter probe, or is it not a big deal?
My Taylor Weekend Warrior has been a decent thermo, but is slow and at times kind of finicky. I am wanting to get a new thermometer and was looking for insight. I know the thermo pens are the best, but I'm not dropping that kind of coin on a thermometer. I am considering the Lava Tools Javelin /...
Alright, I think I will smoke them and then remove, crank the GMG up to 500 and crisp em up a bit. Hold them in a covered container in transit, sauce upon arrival.
I'm thinking they were so dark due to the fact that you had the MES exhaust vent closed off. It should always be open to prevent creosote formation. Higher temps will give crispier skin, I've tried on 275 in my MES with various poultry but always get rubbery skin and must finish off on grill or...
You had me at the skin tight satin running shorts! Sounds very good. I agree 2.27 was the lowest price I found on wings around here this week, can buy 10lbs of leg quarters for 4 bucks all day long.
I've made wings once in my Daniel Boone and a couple of times in the oven, but never fried them. I recently heard of steaming them and the. Baking / grilling for crisping up. I'm going to do about 10 lbs for the big game next week and am looking for the best method. I will probably not be...
Got me a pellet smoker and the homemade mini UDS. Going to a local BBQ competition this weekend to scout out the whole process and hopefully learn a lot. Next month I plan on entering a comp that has a backyard competition as well to get my feet wet in the smaller category. Lookin for advice on...
