Really nice, super clean looking mod.
What I`m jazzed about is there isn`t anything you have to do to the MES that can`t be un-done in about a couple of minutes.
I went super simple, as you can see.
Not as "clean" looking, since half the length of the mailbox sticks out from the stand...
Robert......
Been there, done that...but even the fails are all part of the learning curve.
Whenever I`m about to try doing a new-to-me meat smoke, I spend a few hours seeing how others have done it.
What prep did they do..what temps did they smoke at..rub..wood..and often most important...
2-----3 inch adjustable elbows and a mailbox.
Oh, OK, I used a couple of screw clamps as well.
Not a single thing was done to the MES except take out the chip loader and the chip tray.
The 3 inch elbow fits nice and snug in the chip loader hole.
No need for any caulking or sealing of any...
Good deal.
You won`t be sorry you did the mod.
What I like about using the 3 in. adjustable elbows is how well they fit, with not a single modification to the MES.
The non crimped end just fits the chip loader hole dang near perfectly.
Just pull out the chip tray and BOOM, you`re ready to...
Gotta say, just from a "LOOKS" angle, a clean mailbox mod is hard to beat.
In the "works great" department, I`m leaning towards a tie.
As far as "mobility", not sure that`s much of an issue with an electric smoker.
Not really what a guy would call a stow and go outfit.
Kinda like yours...

Good Luck and Happy Smoking.....
dirtsailor...Already have one of Todd`s kits on it`s way..Read all about Todd`s stuff.
Agree that the white smoke was a turn off, but it could have been wide open just for the photo shoots.
Just thought I`d ask if anyone has used this gadget.
Thanks for the reply.
Just saw this and wondered if anyone is using, or has used one of these?

Thanks Bro....
I know I`ve seen posts from MES`ers who have licked any problems with either the pellets going out, or like your experience, the pellets going off really fast.
Gonna give their hints and tricks a spin before doing any mods.
Not saying I`m not gonna end up with doing the mod...
Thanks for the reply...
Looking forward to assorted dead smokey things coming out of that black bugger.
That old electric Brinkmann could put out some tasty ribs pretty consistently, but everything else was a real crap shoot.
This MES is what I should have got when I got the smoke bug.
Hope...
Thanks for the reply.
I`ve looked at the mailbox mod and thought it just a great idea.
Cold or heat smoking.
Not sure if I`m ready to mod a brandy new toy yet.
Building a stand to get the bugger into a more user friendly height and plan on leaving a space for the mailbox when I`m ready to...
So the household Santa`s Helpers went and got me a MES 30, Digital
Guess they decided Scrumptioulicious Ribs weren`t enough anymore and wanted some decent "Q" from other parts of the PIG, as well as any other critter meat that goes on sale.
That old Brinkmann Electric could put out some ribs...
It`s early and I`m sitting out waiting for the wings to get done.......
So Update time.
I drilled 4, 1/2 inch holes in the pan that holds the heating element and the smoke before last gave me almost all ash.
Even the bulk of the chunks of applewood were ash.
Thanks for the help.
