I run my dual Maverick ET-7 probes thru the top vent of my GOSM Big Block. The transmitter is placed near the vent on a small 6" piece of 2x4 lumber on top of the smoker. I will load my smoker from the bottom up dropping in the lowest probe in when it's cooking grate is loaded. As I load...
Here is a website that compared the Henckel and the Forschner as well as other higher priced knives.

lawdog,
You forgot to invite us over for the tasting....
Our local Sam's will sell you baby back ribs at a reduced cost per pound if you buy them by the case. They come 6 cryopac bundles of 3 racks of ribs each in a case. I can smoke a dozen in my Big Block without using rib racks.
Chief61,
For four years I lived in the big city of Silverhill, AL back when Robertsdale was a bunch of big potato shed with railroad tracks running down the the middle of them. Later on my parents lived in Robertsdale for 15 years.
When your smoking + or - 15F in your smoker thermometer readings is nothing to worry about but I would be concerned with a difference of 40F. The dial thermometers tend to be not as accurate as the digital probe thermometer since the dial has mechanical components. When calibrated with boiling...
Sam's is discontinuing their pair of silicone gloves and if your local store still has some they are currently less than $5 a pair. That is a great deal.
I just ate their last Friday, December 21st. Sorry but the meat did not have any smoked flavor at all (pork and Beef) and their red table sauce was terrible at best. Now the potato salad, the coleslaw, and the onion rings were real good. I also tried their white sauce and it was OK but not as...
The length is a big deal and there is less signal loss with 1/2 wave length than 1/4 wave length. Position is of a concern also. Keep it as straight as possible.
The Maverick ET-7 is wireless with two probes for $37 with free shipping from Amazon.com. I've had mine for 1-1/2 years and about 14-15 smokes with the same batteries and probes. If it were to break or get stolen I would have another one within one week...
I'll be in Huntsville next week. Since the 60's I have enjoyed eating at the Bob Gibson's right there on the main drag in Decatur. You will have to walk pass all those big 1st place BBQ trophies to get to the tables. That is a task I do not mine at all. Pick up a few bottles of their white...
I have been real happy with my 1-1/2 year old GOSM Big Block that I got from Amazon for $189 including shipping. It will hold as is 12 racks of ribs, or up to 12 chickens, or 4 large briskets, or at least 6 large pork butts, or 2 of the largest turkeys you can find. You can still get them...
