    The 55 gal drum can serve as a grill for hamburgers or other goodies and it can be used as a modified smoker using indirect heat. I made a basket insert out of expanded wire that keeps charcoal or wood in a nice pile so that it is easy to manage and can be positioned anywhere in the tank.

    Re-cutting doors?

    This would be a great restoration, weld the doors on the right and left extremes and recut.

    I think 2 / 55 gal will be my next build for my backyard. That is really nice.

       I completed this grill last week. It is really a versatile cooker. It has a propane burner on the front and a 55 gallon grill on the rear.
