    Timing check please?

Thanks for the reply. Sorry I should have mentioned that they are spareribs. I wrote the post quickly during a break at work. I was planning on starting the brisket at about 8p the night before but a few things popped up that pushed the start time back. Again appreciate the response.

    Timing check please?

This coming weekend I am planning on making my new pellet pooper (GMG Jim Bowie) work for its money.  I have a 15lb brisket, 3 racks of ribs, ABTs, SBTs and some stuffed portobellos (for the vegetarians).  With a dinner at 4pm on Saturday, I was going to run with the following times with smoking...

I can't find the link from my phone but there is a pellet comparison out there somewhere where they compared heat, longevity, comsumption rate and ash amount for different brands. When I get in front of a computer next I will look for it.

    Need Pellet Smoker Info/Advice

You can use any food safe pellets.  Though Traeger states that using non-Traeger pellets void the warranty.  Don't ask me how they could tell...

    Need Pellet Smoker Info/Advice

DJ, Sorry to catch you on both threads. Just an fyi, the GMG Jim Bowie is a closer comparison to the RecTec than the Daniel Boone.  Also  until Sunday GMG is having $100 off of either Daniel Boone or Jim Bowie grills.   Plus sometimes GMG dealers will throw in extras to get the business.  From...

Poll: Inquiry on How much power to use on a BBQ gadget

Hello All, My neighbor and I are designing a new gadget for our smokers with a possibility of marketing it.  Sorry I am under an NDA so I can't give specifics.   We are looking at power for this thing and trying to figure out how much we can use but still making it portable.  We would like to...

    Smoker Options & Best Practices

I have not had a problem grilling on mine, but then I do not care about the sear marks.  If you care about searing marks, you can always get a set of GrillGrates.  Hope fully I won't get in trouble for this statement, but you can take a look a look at pelletheads.com where they have groups based...

    Smoker Options & Best Practices

They do produce their own smoke. They startup by using an electric igniter to ignite the compressed wood pellets in the fire box. Once they are on fire the auger feeds pellets into the fire as needed to maintain temps. Some people feel that a pellet pooper do not produce enough flavor so they...

    Smoker Options & Best Practices

I have  a GMG Jim Bowie with remote and I love it.  I had a bad controller card right out of the box, but my dealer and the great CS at GMG got me a new controller before the following weekend.  After that I spend some time getting it dialed in and seasoned.  Now it is running full steam ahead...

Designing wireless Pellet hopper level/temp system

My hope is to make something that can do the same as the Stoker (except the airflow) but a little more cost effective.  Parts right now are estimated at about $150.  Only down side is there is no easy way to say I want 3 temps probes and a pellet sonar or 4 temp probes, or to even change the...

Designing wireless Pellet hopper level/temp system

Hey all, I am starting to get the parts to build myself a wireless thermometer probe for my GMG. It is going to have somewhere between 4 and 12 probes available (depending on which circuit board I buy), wifi, SD card for data logging, web page for probe temp status, ability to calibrate probes...

WHAT ARE YOU SMOKING, GRILLING, OR COOKING FOR MEMORIAL DAY. PLEASE POST YOUR PICS

Just started raining here in sunny California. Now I am debating if I want to smoke a ball tip I found in the freezer and grill burgers for the wife or not. Not sure if I want to get my grills wet?

I am not doing anything this year .  Money is a little tight so I had to make the decision to save money and get meat for my son's birthday party in a few weeks.
