man this is the best forum on smoking imo on the internet , the website ain't bad either. years ago i bought an ecb played
around with it and smoked some so so meat. let it rust out and then about five years ago i bought a propane smokn grill.

my uncle bought a used cb600x we fired that rascal up couldn't get it to go above 170 degrees, imho the water pan/wood chip holder is a bad design.
we ditched it put in a grate with lava rock used a steel woodchip box on top of the rock, put a breadpan in for the water and...
if you check out jeff's video on smoking a turkey in his ecb you will see
first hand the mods that he made. it makes adding your charcoal a lot better.

first of all i don't think a man can have to many smokers much to my wifes disbelief. you want go wrong with the wsm and you can still grill and smoke on the cgriller . and like the other post said you can find weber kettles on craigslist and on sale much of the time!

i dont have a cg but i have sfb smoker, never have used a water pan. have heard of people putting a pan at the opening of the firebox to help regulate the heat on that end. if you are flipping the charcoal grate and putting it at the opening you probally dont need to do this. hope this helps...
