The RF plate would be the water pan. Put a piece of flat bar on the end to make a pan.
I'm not sure what you are asking about the smokestack read. The calculator is based on volume. You need to figure out the volume of your Cook chamber. Then play with the length and dia numbers in the...
I had problems with a PDF also. I scanned again and saved as jpeg and was able to use that here. The images do take a little bit to get releases from jail. That stops when you get a few posts. Not certain of exact number.
I drilled the hinges and welded them on. I left a gap for the door flange to go under them. I cut the door out, tacked the RF plate in, and tacked the CC end plate on.
I spent about 3 hours this morning cutting and grinding. I got the RF plate, both end caps, and the hinges cut and fit. I might have a little time this evening to drill the hinges and weld them on. I also cut the fittings off the tank. I only patched 2 so far, still have 3 more.
I took a few...
I like the 12v actuator idea Dave had. I have seen one huge smoker on a gooseneck trailer that used hydraulic rams. It looked cool and worked great, but they had it hooked to a tractor for hydraulic pressure. Not something you want to do I'm sure.
Thanks Dragons Breath. I have looked through your build several times. I will be doing something similar to your counterweight. I don't think that's the easiest way to do it, but I like the way it looks.
Smokin,
Don't worry I'm watching your progress. Don't get in too big of a hurry or you'll...
Those hinges look very similar to what I have planned. Did you center the bolt above the cut? If so the flange may drag when you try to open it. If it is behind the cut then it will lift up and not drag. It's hard to tell from the angle of the pic. I'm on a phone so it ain't very big.
What size...
Here is my plan for hinges. How do yall think this will look.
The one on the right is black on the bottom so it's hard to see. The top of the door will be 3" off center. The bolt for the hinges will be in the center so the top flange will not drag when opening. I ran out of oxygen, so can't cut...
I would probably just cut it and fix it after you see how bad it is. Another option would be get in it and weld something vertically on the inside of the door. Not sure that is necessary or even possible.
