Glad to hear everything worked out good for you. I hope mine is that consistant across the cook chamber when done. Good luck with the comps and have some fun.
Those axles are great to work with. We have used several of them to build horse drawn wagons. With a manual master cylinder you can have brakes at all four wheels on them.
I finally did a little work on the smoker. Worked on it a couple hours yesterday afternoon. I put the grate in the firebox and welded the end plate on it. I also finished welding up some pieces that were tacked on.
I can't get the picture of the grate inside to load. I used some 1" grating I...
Glad to see it all coming together. I think it is fun to run it a few times and try different things. All part of learning your rig.
How much charcoal does your basket hold? I may build one for mine, but right now just planning on using wood.
I thought I would at least add a pic of some ribs from my little brinkman. Camping again this week and it's easy to haul in the horse trailer. I might get some work in on the smoker tomorrow.
These were gone shortly after the pic. Not even a bone left. The dog deserves to eat good too.
Dave has you headed in the right direction.
My thoughts on the firebox inset are this. Figure out how much you need to use as a cooking surface, add that to the distance the plenum sticks out, and stick the rest under the cook chamber. On my build almost half the firebox is under the cook...
All my pics are uploaded from my phone. To me that's the easiest because they are taken with it anyway. What phone are you using? My Iphone would not upload them until I upgraded it to Ios6. That's the reason I asked.
The red outline is where I would add a piece of tubing on both sides. Weld the front end to the rear of the tongue you already have. The leverage created by the tongue is only applied to the first foot or so of the trailer the way it is now. You could easily have 800lbs or more of force at...
I plan on using pipe couplings welded to the door for my thermos as well. I bought 4" probes. I want mine level when mounted. There will probably be 2" or 3" sticking inside the cooker because they will have to stick out far enough to keep the dials from contacting the door. I am going to put...
Very nice looking trailer for your rig. Hopefully this does not sound like I'm bashing, but I would run a piece of tubing on the bottom of each side from the cross member at the rear of the tongue to the front of the spring hanger. This may not be necessary, but it would make it much stronger...
