ya i hear ya stealth, id just get another temp probe for your cooker until you get a new unit so you can at least have 2 probes to bounce against each other.
well stealth i just messed with mine a little bit and with no probes plugged in i get 888 on the display for a second and the it will show 3 lines as soon as i plug in my probes it shows the temp on the main unit. then i turned on the remote unit and it showed lines where the temp should have...
that is exactly what my unit looked like when i shut it off and turned it back on. i pulled the batteries and put them back in. i turned on the transmitter first then the reciever. let me play with mine stealth and see if i can help ya out i have the exact same unit.
let me know stealth cause mine was showing lines after i shut it off and turned it back on thats why i pulled the batteries and set it up again and your right the instructions really suck.
i just used my 73 for the first time this weekend and found that i had to resync the transmitter to the receiver. after i did that it worked awesome. you might want to try to pull the batteries out and set it up again.

Hey guys i have never smoked a turkey let alone a wild one. i shot this brute last night and was wondering if anybody else has tried a wild turkey. my main question is should i brine and inject a wild turkey or just brine.
