    Recomended with the 2.5 is 47" and with a 3" it was 32". I couldn't run the 3" with the old style door (top load) due to interference, but with that welded shut I could do a transition box and install 3". Just don't know if I will benefit much, fire box temp is good and the unit is very easy...

    You were spot on about the door Dave. I am running a 2.5" chimney and did the calculations for volume, I wonder would I benefit from swapping it out for a 3" chimney, oh guru of smoke.

    Old hot water tank converted to a rf smoker. Dave was right on my door, i thought over sized air inlet would be better, i was wrong. now lets cook!!!!

    I love to smoke deer back straps and roasts, i also smoke wild turkeys whole. i dont think there is a limit to what you can do .

    Thanks for the  reply Dave, I did some calculations on line to match the fb to cooking chamber and stack etc, my air inlet is 2.5 times the size it needs to be, thinking i could damper it down, like a wood stove, or do you think I should change the set up? Thanks again,  Ike
