My first attempt at a build.

I'm about to fab up my fire grate. If I make it 14" wide it leaves me 3" from the bottom of the cc to the bottom of the grate and 10" from the grate to the opening of the FB to cc. Will those numbers be ok? Not much else I can do really.

I honestly don't know what millescale is so I have no idea if there's millescale on it.

This is the weld that connects s the FB to the CC. It may need a little touch up welds and grinding . I don't know if the paint will fill in those spots.

E7018 1/8". Got a little more done today. Cut the FB door. Welded the seem all along the inside of the FB. It was only tack welded so I ran a bead all the way across. Then I put a better weld on the part that connects the FB to the CC and then hit it with the grinder.

Yes it's a stick welder. We're running it hot so it's penetrating good. We're using a decent sized rod as well. I think the beveling should help as well.

Got a little welding and grinding done today. We welded both end plates onto the CC and then welded the CC to the FB. My welds aren't up to par so I'm belveling the edging and then welding. Following that up with grinding. It's a ton of extra work but it actually looks pretty good.
