Have the MES 30 1st Gen and I have used the AMNPS with great success by pulling the chip tray out just enough that I can see the bottom of tray, wide open with top vent and pull the chip loader out about 2 " or so.
Did a small turkey that I smoked for 6 hours, turned off the MES, but forgot to...

If you can find an old dorm or apartment fridge, this set up works great!
Update on using heat sink:
Filled water tray with combination of sand and gravel, covered it with foil and placed under bottom rack on MES 30.
Smoked a bunch of wings, using wood chips in tray and everything worked out great!
Temp stayed solid, only losing 10 degrees when I opened door to...
It would seem to me that the pea gravel or denser stone would be better than sand?
Sand will heat up quicker, but won't hold temp as well as a denser material.
Dry sand will tend to absorb moisture, thereby robbing your smoker of the natural moisture for the meat.

As I posted earlier, I took an old Marine-grade fridge that was taking up space on my pontoon boat and used it as a cart/storage for my MES 30.
Now, I'm ordering a Smokin it Model #2 and wanted something similar that I can store stuff in (wood chunks, foil, thermometers, etc)
The SS cart...
Have settled on a Smokin It over the Smokin Tex, thanks to some input from several members.
I have an MES 30 at my Lake House and it has worked flawlessly so far.

Smokin Tex 1400 ($539 on Amazon) and the
Smokin it Model 2.($429)
leaning towards the Smokin Tex.
looked at higher-priced models, but didn't really see anything that justified paying double or triple the above prices?
Have an MES 30 at the Lake House and love it so far.
Thinking of getting one for this house and not sure if I go with same model or look at something better?
So far, the 30" has suited my needs, so don't know if I would need to go bigger?
Really like the convenience of the electric model, and...
Anyone else using them?
Seem to smoke real well in the AMPS. Not sure I'm getting the full flavor in my smokes compared to wood chips, though?
Or is that generally true with any brand pellets vs chips?
Had an old marine-type refrigerator on my pontoon boat. Never used it and it just took up space.
Found a great use for it!
The MES 30 fits perfectly on top, and the new height makes it soooooo much easier to access when loading chips, pellets meat, etc.
chocked the wheels on the MES and the...
