    Visit to Lang Manufacturing

Business this week took me from Northern IN down to Southern GA today. While here I took the opportunity to visit Lang Manufacturing. I have read many positive reviews here on the SMF's on the Lang smokers that I wanted to see their products for myself. I met with Ben Lang and he showed his...

    Viewing Who Is On-Line

Hey Everbody: It has been a while since I have been on the smoking forum. Before I had a box that showed who was on-line as I navigated the forums. Is this feature gone? I saw that I could go to a sperate screen to view the list but it was nice to have it up in the header.

    My education begins....

I found that several things will effect the temperatures in a vertical smoker. How close is the water pan to the charcoal? If you increase the distance (even just a little), the temperatures will increase. Are you smoking with water in the pan? This will lower temps. How much meat are you...

    a fishy problem

If your fish tastes or smells "fishy" it is because it is not fresh. My vote is for Salmon! Wild salmon has a pretty strong taste but the farm raised fish is actually pretty mild.

congrats on your purchase. How are you monitoring your temps? From my experience, my results really improved when I got several probe thermometers and not trust the one that came with my smoker. I would also look at using lump charcoal. Much better heat and less ash. It's one thing to...
