    Thanks everyone it was good for a first try always room for improvement. BD I splashed some apple juice in when I foiled, maybe a 1/4 cup. There was lots of juice in the foil probably a full cup I poured out and saved when I opened up to carve.

    Hmm that's what I thought should happen. I've used it many times in the BBQ doing cold smoke cheese and I usually got 2 hours per row and nothing left but light and grey ash. I had the temp cranked to max for the chicken but now I have a small brisket in there at 225 so I'll see what it looks...

    What should pellets in the AMNPS burn down too to be considered a proper burn? I just used mine in my 30" MES for the first time cooking chicken drumsticks and they turned to black charcoal, but stayed in pellet form. No white ash except where I started it with the heat gun.     I ordered a new MES 30in digital 0910 model from Amazon. When I received it, the unit was pretty smashed up in the box, but the box didn't have a mark on it. The door was broken off and creased in the middle, hinges bent, back edges caved in, feet bent. It makes me wonder if I got sent one...

    Hi offroader, thanks I will check out Home Hardware. I am originally from Kingston area, grew up about 45 minutes north of the city just past Verona. I still make it home about once a month to see family and friends. Nice to hear from a local guy!
