    Offset smokers and burning wood.

I second the Lang, also the smaller Yoders they sell at Bass pro are nice. The Old Country Wrangler or Pecos from Acadamy would fit the bill as well and cost much less than a Lang or Yoder or equivalent.

    Lang 36 patio/YoderCheyenne

I believe the slide out shelves are standard on all models now, but you can the get it with the older style shelf if you prefer, the cost is the same for either.

    Size of charcoal box help!

When I had my Old Country Wrangler, I made a box with a 24"x24" sheet of expanded metal from Home Depot, I also use the same box in my Lang. You don't need much charcoal to get it going, but you will have to experiment to see what works best for you, maybe just a half chimney or so will do the...

    Old Country Wrangler- Owners Thread

I had the wrangler and while I liked it, it wasn't big enough for me and I couldn't get the temps down as low as I wanted, even with tuning plates. I think you will be very happy with either, or both.

    Lang 36 patio/YoderCheyenne

For me, I'd get the Lang just because it's reverse flow and has the griddle plate underneath the cooking grate. This helps keep the temps evened out as well as sears the fat/drippings which adds to the flavor of the meat. When I had my Old Country Wrangler, the firebox side was way hotter than...

    Flavor wood placement

I just place all my wood directly in/on the fire so everything burns clean.

    Offset smoker for under $350

I don't see it on the academy site either, but they may have some in store, if there is one near you. If not, the Pecos is still there, it's bigger but has a bit thinner metal, and it's $100 less. I'd go with that one if I couldn't get the wrangler. The Wrangler was just too small for me, you...

    Lang 36

Looks like you did pretty good. I got a killer deal on a Lang 48 Patio about a hear and a half ago, got it for $1250.

Old Country All American Angus Smoker

Aaron uses the smaller one, not the all American angus smoker, but that is a very nice one that should suit you just fine.

    New Lang 36 patio

Very nice, did you order it specifically with the firebox on the left side?

    New Horizon 20" classic Smoker

The Char Broil XL Heavy Duty smoker cover would fit it, it's about $25 on amazon. It's probably not going to be as heavy duty as you would like it to be, but I know it would fit. I used it on my old OC Wrangler smoker and on my current Lang 48 Patio. I'm sure there are other better ones out...

Ordered a new smoker today.....A Lang 48 Patio!

I got another opportunity to fill up my Lang 48 patio this weekend, I smoked 2 butts, 3 racks of ribs, some mac and cheese, and a bunch of wings. Everything turned out great, and as usual, maintaining temps was not a problem.

Ordered a new smoker today.....A Lang 48 Patio!

I'd love if my shelf folded down, but I also really like, and always use the shelf on the side, so I'd not want to give that up just to have the front shelf fold. The probe hole is a nice feature, but I've not had an issue with my maverick probe wires, so that's not a big deal. I do see your log...

Ordered a new smoker today.....A Lang 48 Patio!

Very nice! Does the front shelf fold down? Mine doesn't but it wraps around the side, so that's why I'm wondering.
