    I got lucky and found a temperature idicator at walmart in the outdoor section on closeout. Marked down to $12 from $19. It is 50-500 1/2 npt threads and 2 inches long. When I tested it in boiling water it 10 degress off....which is typical at high altitudes. I think it was grill care...

    Watch the gate valve, the characteristics of it will be different that a ball valve. Gate Valves are designed to restrict more on the bottom end than the top. Just my $0.02

    ahh help my lid won't fit uds

    What kind of lid are you using? When I used a uniflame lid from walmart, I had to bend the bottom of the lid with a pliers then hammer it flat. From there it would sit on top of the drum. Once I got it perfect'o.....I then rounded what little bit of the lid I could over the drum to help the seal.
