Alesia,
At the state parks they generally allow fires (only in the metal rings that are on concrete)...even in the driest years, we've had camp fires...Of course as knee jerk as we are in this country, that'll most likely change due to Waldo Canyon and The High Park fires...I cannot recall one...
The weathermen are predicting a warm-up the next few days, so as long as I have temps in the 60's (as predicted) I'm a happy camper (literally and figuratively)! Alesia is about 2,000'~ higher than me (I'm at 6,300'). Brrrrr!
If you notice, the current temp is 19*F and windy...I decided to cook...

Hey all...I normally have pretty good luck when I order things on line, but this time LEM has just totally turned me off!
I ordered a 3/8" tube for my jerky gun on March 18th knowing it was shown as on back order till the 6-9th of April...Just looked today, and they are predicting...
Alesia,
Yup, due to the "predicted" weather the kids have no school today. It's extremely windy here. I'm SOOooo done with winter this year...ready for camping season. We're heading out this weekend to short excursion to Cheyenne Mountain State Park. A little camping/grilling and beer drinking...
...I'm patiently waiting...I hope you got that thing sealed well? I would hate to see that awesome paint job with brown streaks on it...It looks to be one of the coolest smokers I've seen...It's inspired me to think about a flame job on my little SS electric smoker that I'm building!

Rico,
Summer sausage is on my list of "to-dos"...those look like they turned out great, color/texture look perfect.
I like the Hi-Mountain products, but I have not used their strings? I usually just ask my local butchers (King Soopers and/or Albertson's) for butcher's twine....10 out of 10...
I can be there in a few hours...keep 'em warm for me!
Man, those BSR's look sexy raw (is there something wrong with me that I reference beef that way?).

I paid $4.16 for my 110v 1,500w element...doesn't get much cheaper than that...plus it came with the controls (which I've decided to go PID)...so a moot point. Good to know on the water heater elements?!
My other smoker (The Electric Frankensmoker) is a 220V, 5,000w smoker...he runs 2 elements...
dcarch...I was gonna build a propane smoker with an old RV propane grill/griddle I had...decided against it as the "propane bomb" idea was a HUGE concern!!! I decided that electric was a better way to go for my build?!
Here's a link...
Gary, I stand corrected..I wasn't aware that CI was previously manufactured by MES, but yes, the Cuisinart does have similarities to both units...
Sidenote: I have family in Sioux Falls (Valley Springs, actually) Nice area!

Welcome Sherlock....
That looks a lot like a Masterbuilt Electric Smoker? I'm not 100% but I ask the manufacturer who makes it? There has been some debate as to the quality of the controller of the MES...at least the last version? Search MES or Masterbuilt on the forums, you'll find many...
Agreed...but, if I bring home another smoker, my wife will divorce me...I've brought home 3 since xmas and I am building Frank, Jr. as we speak...waiting on the PID, SSR and Thermocoupling!
Sqwib,
My buddies and I have been hunting together for years...that particular tent is a Medium government issue surplus tent that was purchased about 14 years ago by a group of buddies strictly for hunting. It get so hot in there with both stoves going, it's ridiculous! Everyone has there cots...
I've got a Cooker/Warming cabinet that uses convection to cook, I've add the AMNTS as my smoker generator. While it's not exactly a commercial smoker, it is a large commercial cooker that can cook/smoke up to 364lbs of meat at once. I can use it for everything from cold smoke (no heat/fans) or I...
That's good to know...heading camping next weekend and would like to smoke some ribs with my little Sportsman SS portable grill...I'll bring along the 6" AMNTS and let her rip...In my mind I was contemplating how to seal up the grill a little...now I won't worry about it!?
Ciao,
~Brett
