Hi Smurf, did you not have any luck with that stainless plasterer's mesh then ? I need a rocket up my arse to get my build going ! I've started making space in the garage but my son's buying his first house and moving from rented, if he sees room in my garage, you can bet he'll want to store...
Hi Monkey, I was sea fishing at Seahouses last week on Alan's boat, Guide Me. Mostly codling around the 3 to 4 lb mark and a few Coaly's, I was hoping for some mackeral to smoke, but it's a bit early yet.
The smokehouse in Whitby is very impressive, but they were the worst kippers I've ever...
I'm in the same boat Smurf. They have some full sheets at our local scrapyard but it's quite a light gauge, probably ok for grill racks but maybe too thin and too small a mesh size for a fire basket. I'm gonna call by a fabrication shop nearby and see if they have any offcuts, got to be worth a...
Hi Paul, Wade put me onto Aussie Heat Beads, I think he buys his online. They had them in the Range so I bought a bag to try, went back to get some more a couple of days later and the price had gone up £2, think they had misspriced the first lot, I shoul've bought more !
Graeme.
Aww Guys, I'm starting to feel a bit inadequate here, think I'll just turn up with my napkin tucked in my collar and stand in a corner till the food's ready.
Hi Lee, that's some project you've got lined up. There's a bread oven book by a guy named Tom Jaine that shows how to build a wood fired oven, you probably wouldn't want to build it as he describes his but it does give you info on lime mortar and choice of bricks which could save you some money...
Thanks for that Paul, bloody supermarkets round here have all changed to plastic baskets, don't think I'd get the burn time and the "flavour" might be a bit funky : ) Will do a tour of the local scrapyards next week and see what I can turn up.
I was attracted to the shape as it fits in the underbed storage of my camper much more efficently than the globe types, the fact that it's a brilliant bit of kit is the icing on the cake, yes it was expensive, but what Weber product isn't this side of the pond and yes I need to pull my finger...
So we went off to the south Lakes over the Easter weekend and I'd packed the Go Anywhere in the camper, I bought it specifically for the camper due to it's compact size but took some grief from Val as it's about the fourth one ( and the most expensive ) that we've had in the camper. Tried those...
Hi Ryan, welcome onboard. Glad to find a Scot who's not battering or deep frying stuff !! Well done trying the ham, even the failures have value on the learning curve.
Bit further south for you but the Uk group are having a camping/bbq get together in August, there's gonna be loads of tips and...
Filled out the form, basically garlic potato salad, ABTs, wings and a main yet to be decided plus dessert.
I'll probably have some fridge/freezer space and we have an oven in the van if that helps anyone.
that form is a great idea, I heard Danny and Wade were both bringing tofu, carrot sticks and Linda Mcartney sausages :) I will have a think about what I‘m bringing, I have a pop up gazebo but will only bring it if it‘s needed as it takes up a bit of room and we will be extending the weekend a few...
Howdy y'all, booked pitch 84 for me, the missus and the two whippets for the three nights ! Didn't see an option for booking the weather though, fingers crossed for a scorcher : )
Do you know any commercial garages that service trucks ? Quite a lot of them get grease for doing the zerks in 20 gallon barrels. A bugger to clean out but it won't rust.
