Are wire milk crates ok to use for a UDS charcoal basket?....

I've been trying to get quotes from local metalworkers about having a basket made from expanded metal, and their quotes are ridiculous....(The last quote I got was $145).....So I was thinking of other options and thought of a milk crate......So my question is... Are wire milk crates ok to use...

Is my USD drum lined or unlined?!?!?

Worked like a charm, Dave...Thank you! I have another question for you.....Do you think using oven cleaner would help the process along, instead of sanding the inside?.......Just looking for an easy solution. I inquired to few places about sandblasting, but it looks to be well over $100...

However, it didn't take much to remove it with a wire wheel drill attachment. Off subject - I did happen to notice that the lid doesn't quite fit the drum like it...

Is my USD drum lined or unlined?!?!?

Hi there, I just started my UDS build and did my burnout for 2-1/2 hours. Then I took a wire wheel to the inside of the drum to get it down to the bare metal (see pic). Can someone tell me if my drum is lined or not?.....Any input would be great! Thanks!

    Starting my 1st UDS build!

Hi everyone, After a bit of research, I've decided to build my 1st UDS. I have the drum and bought most of the hardware for it. I'm about ready to burn the inside of the drum to get it any / all stuff out of it.  The drum itself appears to be in good condition.  However the entire inside has a...
