    AMNS vs AMNPS

I have both and the pellet burner is more versatile and you get a heavier smoke as well. You cant mix dust with pellets, the dust will smother the pelets. The pellets are a little more difficult to get going and you need better air flow to keep it goin but nothing major.Definetley worth getting.I...

    Stink bugs?

Yeah, they do.I smoked one by accident.I have a 40" MES and luckily it was only in the chip loader chute so clean up wasnt that bad.But they like anything warm when the cold weather arrives.I think you have nothing to worry about, by now they have already found there winter hideout.

    MES Help

True, newer isn't always better.I was thinking the new controls that are incorporated in the front would be easier to read in the daylight and the vent on the opposite would be a plus as well.

    MES Help

No, the one at Sams is the 2012 year model, the one at Academy(website anyway) is the 2011 year model. If it was me,I would get the latest version. It might be worth becoming a Sams member.Mine is 2 versions old, still works great though, and Amazon has the 2012 version for 353 but was out of stock.

    MES Help

I have the 40". Do you need smoke through out the ENTIRE cooking process?

x 2 on the  AMNPS. In the mean time, try using different wood.Fruit woods are milder, try hickory or mesquite. You'll get a stronger smokey taste.

MES 40 - % of Smoke Session to add chips

The original AMNS(dust only) was designed for cold smoking and had issue with rows jumping in too hot enviroments. The AMNPS was originally designed for both cold and hot smoking using pellets and has no such issues.I have both, and LOVE them both.I usually use the pellet version using pellets...

the case of the pellet experiment and the turkey

I dont want to toot my own flute, but it did have  deep mahagony color. That was with temp set at 270 and cooked for about 3 hours. The pellets and charcoal ran out at about 2 hours.Using charcoal definetely burns the rows much faster.

the case of the pellet experiment and the turkey

Well  guys, after seeing some posts regarding using charcoal in Todds' pellet burner,I decided to give it a try.Using all charcoal creates great charcoal smell, but the smoke it generates is light so mixing it with some pellets is a must.I was in the mood for some turkey so I decided to give it...

    Todd's Charcoal Pellet

So.. Will the charcoal pellets generate the same amount of smoke as the other pellets? Or are they really designed  to help get things burning and add a few here and there within the rows of the AMPS?
