Will be my first build with a finned strip, it gets glowing red and the company i ordered it from said it will work just fine for my application.
Several guys on this forum have used them with success.
looking good so far.
If your going to go with and Auberins controller defintiely worht the few extra $$ and getting the duel probe, http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=381 . No point limiting yourself. The duel probes takes all the guess work out of everything. ...
Agree with Dave, seems that there is likely an issue getting the hot air into the smoke house from the lower chamber.
Worth testing the element, but looks more like an issue with the separate compartments and flow through.
the one on the right o found on Kijiji for $100 and the other one i found for free.
i actually have 2 more fridges as well, but one still works and the other one is large enough to fit the one on the right inside of. Not sure what to do with the really big one, might take it to the scrap yard...
SO i have a customer that wants me to build
going to build it in the same manor i built my last one but tweeked a little.
already built the one on the right, now to get started on the left fridge.
Going to be electric with a 1550w electric finned strip heater controlled with an Auberins...
hmmm.
my fridge is not much different than yours and i smoked 3 briskets outside at 225 for several hours with no issue. and is -30C to -35C.
using the same element. It tames some time to get up to temp in that cold, but once its there it recovers pretty good and doesnt fluctuate at all once...
You bet, ill have a build threadstarted likely next week when i hopefully start assembly. Ill start with the control box. Have to get the fridge prepped to get a vinyl wrap instead of painting.
heres the thread i started for my build too. http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/t/175818/fridge-build-2
thjis is the only one i have right now, But ill be working on my new control box for another build this week or next, ill tak some how to pics with it to show exactly how i do it.
pretty simple really. The power comes into a bank and splits out from there to here it needs to go. It was a...
Looks like your off to a good start so far.
If youre using the correct wiring you can put it through he back of your control box and run it inside the smoker to your element. rather than in the conduit line.
and IMO building a PID isnt orth it when you can buy the dual PID controller from...
few issues it could be or contributing at least. but need more info
looks like at least a 4" vent, might be drawing too much air and not allowing enough time to heat the air due to flow through., and/or your intake is too large. you really dont need much on these size of smokers.
how long...
looks like a small opening in the bottom front left corner. Most fridge builds id say electric, but the bottom compartment on this one would make a really good wood/charcoal smoker.
electric is easiest to set and forget with a PID control as JCKDNLS said. I am on my second build and using...
nice! what the bottom compartment look like?
that might be the perfect charcoal fridge conversion with the bottom compartment already there. or electric, maybe put the smoke generator in the bottom. so many optins with the at beauty!1
hahahaha.
I hear ya, but fear not. Electric is really the way to go for a fridge.
would this pic of amazing perfect pulled pork lie???
or triple smoked 4 pepper bacon?
or a smoker full of venison pork smokies?
or fall apart brisket?
now im just showing off smoked cheese and...
