your best bet on a smnoker that size for a restaurant is to go with a hopper assembly like muralboy recommends. it will run off of 110v and its only to run the fan and burner to start the pellets up, t wont blow anything
If you go electric youll need a few elements and 240v power to run it with...
don't need to worry about the tar on the back of the box. It wont be an issue unless it is on the tub, that wll nee to be removed as best as possible
drilling through the enamel, hard bit, and have lot on hand. I go through several failry inexpensive ones on each build. go slow and save...
ive seen commercial electric smokers made entirely out of 20g galvanized sheet. most who wont use it are of the better safe than sorry philosophy.
IF you clean the inside with oven cleaner it will strip the coating off.
thanks Big T and Curse. its actually not a paint job. I had a vinyl wrap done on it. It was a sign maker and graphics design place that can print and wrap vinyl.
ITS ALLIIIIIIVEE!!!!
Finally alll done my latest build and delivered to the customer!!
Here is the finished smoker.
the top right corner was smashed up pretty good as you can tell from earlier pics in the thread. I hammered it out as best I could then finished the repair with body filler. I...
Its a great looking smoker, Enjoyed the updates , thanks Cowboy!
I haven't seen a Stumps setup before. Interested to see the inside of the fore box on the bottom, size of the valve and kind of fan for the stoker.
electric is easier to control and build. gas are outdoor only smokers. electric can be used indoors of vented .
PID don't always run full on when switching an element on. They control the current and as the target house temp gets closer then the PID will drop the current to prevent huge over...
you should. Polyurethane spray foam insulation can be made to withstand the temps of a smoker, but when its used in refrigeration units then its not designed for use in a smoker. Iis hghly recommended you remove it.
Ive called manufacturers in the past and they said it will not work.
I have a similar fridge but it didn't have the wood blocks in it. The 4 piece of plastic trim hold the tub in place just fine.
Youll be fine using primer anywhere, use rustoleum or tremclad metal primer.
MOst everyone will say you have to remove all the tar, but really it will be fine, get...
it will be tough getting the insert out in 1 piece if the insulation is spray foam, and it likely is.
the shelving should be powder coated and fine. Take a small propane torch to it and see what happens.
ya, for the most part. but you could get rid of the copper pipe bit and leave the auger open in a smoke box, then vent the box into the smoker. like a mailbox mod.
don't have a way to draw it out right now, but just mount it into a box that vents to the smoker. Instead of the tube with the...
you can stack 2 drums on top of each other and make a door on the side.
Cut the top off one and the bottom off the other one. Use the Bung on the lid of the op barrel as your stack, fits a threaded 2" steel pipe , attach a ball valve to use as a damper.
Use a piece of sheet metal as strapping...
start with new racks.
even if you do go with a wood frame on the outside the length of bolt you would need does not make it worth it. The shelves are stable enough with just a few bolts to hold it. I had a similar shelving system temporarily and hated it. was too easy to have a rack full of...
have a liner built that will fit inside the shell leaving 2-3" walls with Roxul insulation, any rating, buy the cheap one cheap, use the thickness and to determine how thick you are going to make the walls.
If you buy the 2" thick Roxul then measure the liner so that the walls measure 2" thick...
