BOTH CONTROLLERS USE A SOLID STATE RELAY, which means full output or no output THE ADVANTAGE TO THE SMD IS YOU ARE NOT LIMITED TO 1800 WATTS
The difference is that the dual probe plug nhave a small dc output to control a play is self contained and doesn't output a small DC charge to opn and...
have you done another dry run with the smoker to see if there are any issues with your controller?
if it wasn't going above 250 was the element staying on the whole time?
I had an issue with my controller where the house tempo reading wouldn't go over 225 or 250 and as a result it kept the...
a 3 - 4" stack should be more than enough. I like to put them out the back at the top. it helps prevent tar from dripping onto the food, it just runs down the back wall of the smoker if you vent out the back at the top.
you should be able to run 2 x 110v 1800w elements off the controller if everything is wired correctly with the right power supply.
ill talk with a friend of mine you is an electrician and makes sure I am wiring this kind of stuff right.
ive had good success with finned strip heater in my last buil;d and using the same on again in a friends current build. Its a smaller house though, just a regular vintage fridge.
The finned strip heaters cannot be used with full power to them unless they have forced air moving across them.
You...
i cut the plug end off my element and then put a new end on it. Made it a hell of a lot easier to run the wiring through it.
On the current build I am helping a buddy with ill cut the plug end off, run the wire to an electrical junction box in the back and have a new electric cord coming out of...
be tough to use the heat exchanger, you will need a boiler to run steam, or heated oil or some other liquid or gas through it. It would Make a complex system for sure. It would be wicked cool, but large, and might need a boiler ticket just to smoke bacon. hahahaha
sounds like good progress, You can also get the Auberins PDF from the website. Its on all the product pages, they have 2 most of the time, 1 is a simple easy manual and the 2nd is a more indepth complex manual.
if you need any help let me know, ive used them lots in my builds.
hope you didn't twist the fridge. The heat can warp the metal and make it tough to out together properly.
that tar was harmless, it never gets any heat exposure. If it is on the liner of the fridge then it needs to be removed, but the burn wasn't necessary, and may cause problems.
1/2" or 3/4" wood dowel works great, or get some 20g bent into a 90degree smoking sticks. they only need to be 3/4"x3/4" x width of smokehouse so the rest on the shelving racks.
1. Why do some pull out the old insulation and replace with Roxul and some just leave in the old insulation? And, does Roxul make that big of a difference.?
you should to take the tub, or liner, out regardless to want to run thake sure its sealed up really well and if you waont to run your...
Even just a good 1 1/2" opening on either side would be sufficient. Use a damper in the exhaust. You don't need to worry much about controlling the air intake.
if that's a fridge then the spray foam polystyrene will need to be removed unless it will be strictly a cold smoking unit.
it will not hold up to smoker temps and runs the risk of the polystyrene shrinking or meiltng and catching on fire inside the walls.
you baking rack is also larger than the opening,
what is the unit you are building into a smoker? Is that a heating cabinet, fridge or freezer? It looks like it should have shelves in it to start, where are they?
you could leave the wood, as long as its not too close to the heat source. make sure there is no wood near the element. if its has metal over it the walls and door will be fine. seal them up really well.
make sure there is no wood within several inches of the element, or under it. even if it...
you can use it, but keep in mind the thickness of the walls in a fridge are more than 1 1/4", that means if you use this element the control will be inside the wall. You will have to build a box into the wall that the plug will fit in and allow you to adjust the temp. Not a convenient set up...
