    1920 Frigidaire refrigerator

if its metal inside, and likely it is, it should be porcelain. easy to figure it out, look at the inside, you'll know right away. I've never heard of any that weren't porcelain. great looking fridge/

    Help with math

electric is the easiest to control and set and forget. definitely the way I would recommend for a fridge build.  just go through the fridge/freezer build stre and look at all the different designs the guys have come up with. keep us posted if you have any questions of any kind. an amazing amount...

    Help with math

going electric on fridge builds is the easiest and most consistent way to go imho. though you could check out this thread, its a great way to build a wood or charcoal smoker with a fridge, http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/t/173701/first-fridge-build-so-far#post_1288432

paint and body work withstand heat?

I went out the back with a 3"-4" collar into a 4" 'T'. I would've just gone with 3" all the way but couldn't find one in Rona or Home Depot. Have the bottom capped, just need to put a couple holes in the bottom so the water drains out. I hang a large empty coffee can under it. Colder it is where...

paint and body work withstand heat?

I have 1.5" pipe  set as a mailbox mod for my smoke. Will put a 1.5" intake with a ball valve in the back of my next build. thinking of putting in the bottom so it doubles as a drain for cleaning. As it is now the house temp stays very constant, even when -30c, windy and exhaust is wide open.

    Creosote Problem

It has nothing to do with the 90 bend. all smokers even straight up will have tar eventually drip back. Thats why when i built mine i went out the back with a tee . I never get anything dripping back. and when smoking in the winter outside i get alot of condensation collected in the bottom...

paint and body work withstand heat?

Ive had great success with the brinkman element. Ive had the smoker up to and hold at 275 no problem. Though i usually only run it around 225f at most. Its a well insulated fridge so the element can heat it up no problem. As long as there are no dripping in the bottom of the smoker it will work...

paint and body work withstand heat?

Kidding.  I paid $140 + shipping and taxes. Came out to about $170 in total. I even got a free gift after checkout for doing a online customer service survey they do. I picked teh bendable Mag flashlight. As lengthwise you just need to ensure it has 1/2" clearance  on each end and 1"-2" above...

paint and body work withstand heat?

i went with this one   CSF00016, 17 7/8" 1550w. http://www.omega.ca/shop/pptsc.asp?ref=CSF3&ttID=CSF3&Nav= I was restricted by length.. If youre looking at the plug n play controller the duel probe is rated for 1800w,

paint and body work withstand heat?

I called Omega, a strip heater manufacturer in Canada. and He helped me out. the one I chose he said will be fine. I tried putting a fan in my 1st build and I find it makes it hard to hit temp. If I let the smoker get to temp then turn it on ill see a drop of usually no less than 10f and it...

paint and body work withstand heat?

Id say go electric instead of the pellet pooper, Its more compact and easier to control. The brinkman element i used in my 1st build is not intrusive in the bottom of the unit and works really good. Im usisng the smoke daddy on my current build. Small, compact and uses and wood or charcoal for...

paint and body work withstand heat?

Working on my next build now and using a 1550w finned strip heater. Seen several threads where guys used them with good success. Ill be using the Auberins dual probe plug n play controller with it, i take it out of the case it comes in and mount it in a new box and mount it on the side of my...

First build, a question about the interior

no. use sheet metal.  Of the freezer you are planning on using does not have a metal insert i wouldnt bother. Find a fridge or freezer that has a metal interior and use that. They are bullet proof from the porcelain coating, then you only need to worry about replacing the trim and a few other...

paint and body work withstand heat?

Single out is all you need, I would go 3" at most for it. $" can take away space and also create more draft than you need in the small space.  heres a pic of mine.  I left the plastic trim in mine, Cant even tell the glowing red element is less than 1" away from the trim on the bottom. I...

    Auber 1500 pid

Set it to what ever parameters you want. I recommend 90-120f for the 1st hour to dry, then add smoke and ramp temp to 155f until internal temp of 150 is reached. then remove from smoker and ice bath to bring the sausage to room temp fast. let bloom out in the open at room temp for and hour or...
