Thought I'd show off a grill the company I work for built and donated to the local public golf course. It was designed by one of our engineers and fabricated by our weld & machine shops. You can cook with propane, charcoal or use it as a smoker. It rotates 360 degrees on the base to adjust for...
I got my CharGriller side box for $35, NIB.
Walked into WalMart a couple of years ago just in time to hear them announce that everything in Lawn & Garden was 50-75% off (clearing out for Christmas merchandise).
I figured I'd go check it out and see what kind of junk they had left.
The smoker...
Mine started with my Great-great granddad who passed it down to my Granddad who passed it on to my dad then he gave it to me. I passed it on to my son and daughter just because it seems to be a family tradition.
I have a CharGriller side box smoker grill and want to convert the side fire box to propane. Seems to me it would be easier to control temps and eliminate the need to keep a chimney full of coals ready to go to replenish the fire box.
I plan on using the regulator, hose and burner control valve...
I get 'em in a bag at True Value, they're pretty dried out (when you live in the plains of Kansas, you don't have many other choices!). If you don't soak 'em they just ignite and don't produce any smoke.

Plan 'A' was this one:

Thanks to the advice I got on that thread and the search function I came up with a new plan:
I'm going to brine the turkey using Dutch's apple cider brine recipe. Went to the tool room at work and "borrowed" a new 5...
Although I'm not a man of wealth or fame.
Found this forum while trying to decide if I should smoke a Thanksgiving turkey.
I love smoking & grilling, even been known to chip ice off the grill in January!
We don't plan on eating until evening, 6:00 or so. Weather forecast for Thursday is cold and windy; I'm afraid it won't be done on time. Wife is more afraid of that than I am!
I could "borrow" a welding blanket from work to throw over the CharGriller to hold the heat in.
Hi, first time poster, found this forum while searching for turkey smoking techniques.
In a nutshell:
Due to work schedule, other time constraints and the weather forecast for Thanksgiving day I don't think I'll have time to do a full-fledged smoked turkey in time for dinner on Thursday.
What I...
