I thought the idea of a file cabinet smoker was neat. I decided to try it to see what I could turn out. I went looking for the big block yesterday but could not find it locally. Until I can get my big block locally and not settle for anything smaller, I will continue to work on my file cabinet...
when smoking on your gosm and using chunks do you have to lite them first then let them burn down and add them to the smoke box or can you just add them to the box and let them ignite from the burner.

I am trying to find out the basics for smoking meat with wood. Do I light all the wood first and let it burn off. I have pretty much used charcoal for all of my bar-b-cue. I want to try some with wood for the 4th. I really need to know how to start it off. This is a first for me. Thanks!!
