I have not seen any of these Masterbuilt products. The Masterbuilt cold smoker Kit looks very interesting. I would like to see more of the internal workings.
I have been using mine in the garage for 2 years. I have a over the range microwave with a built in exhaust fan. The exhaust fan is vented outside. I agree with hkeiner. The smoke that is produced when you open the door is enough to fill my 2 car garage. I have noticed it takes a considerable...
I think both would work. The MGT has a Glass reinforced mica tapes as a insulator. There for this helps with the higher heat. I also think it helps with water resistance. Most ovens or heaters don't get up to those temps there for TGGT wire will suffice. I don't think the heating element...

Yes my bad the chip tray and chip loader are different. Thanks for the caching that. The picture this post #1 shows both chip trays and you can get one from masterbuilt. There is a kit that replaces the housing that supports the tray. There are some post on the forum DYI removing the spot welded...
There is a 30'' MES with all these options remote and wheels model number 20070411. I have not heard of anyone owning one on the SMF. But they are available online at Cabelas.

2. No do not close the vent keep it fully open if you...
You are correct about the missing insulation but it is double walled to help hold temp better.
You should not have the same wiring issue other MES owner have. Your unit has completely different
type of heating element controller. Your unit has a Analog controller that is fully self contained...
Well that makes more than one person on the SMF that has gotten a CI and taken it back for a MES.
I think you made the right decision. The CI is a basic copy of the MES. You know what they say about copy's.
There never as good as the original.
Here is a few links on this forum about your issue
Hope this helps.

Do not soak your chips before you use them this helps. Dry chips only! If you do still have lack of smoke issues you can call Masterbuilt and get a retro fit kit that addresses this issue.
