    Thanks for the you model number information. Looks like to me that the meat probe and the internal light could have been options only on the 30'' with the window. Not for certain that is the fact. Also thanks for the information you found out  about the wireless controller and remote.

    How accurate is the built in MES meat probe?

    I was trying to find out what model numbers came with the meat probe and which ones didn't.  So I can update the model number list to show this option. Dale I know you have model #20070106 Mama's Smoke you said your MES dose not have the meat probe do you have you model number? By the way...

    Any mods to the new MES 40" yet?

    Thanks Todd I think the RF transmitter for the remote is in the controller. So the swap should allow the use of the remote.

    Any mods to the new MES 40" yet?

     I have no idea the service rep I spoke to at masterbuilt told me that they would not be available till Dec. The remote and controller are to separate parts they don't come as a kit. I think the new controller will work it has the same connectors. I will keep you updated with any new information...

    30" MES smoker is not smoking, 20070910.

    This is what your chip tray housting should look like inside you smoker. The exta metal plate that the arrow is pointing to is the issue. The plate was put there so that the wood chips did not fall  directly on the heating element. The retro kit removes this and gives you a full size wood chip...
