    Post your favorite knife!

I am also a fan of the Kershaw Ken Onion "Leek" knife. I would be hard pressed to call it my favorite knife, but it is the one I carry every day and it is one of many that all have a specialized purpose around the house. I attached a high visibility para-cord lanyard to mine to help make it...

    Fresh Spring Rolls

For a good dipping sauce for spring rolls or egg rolls, sometime try Nước Chấm. Gives it a nice Vietnamese flare. https://www.hungryhuy.com/vietnamese-dipping-fish-sauce-recipe-nuoc-cham-nuoc-mam-cham/

In hindsight, I probably didn't need the sharpener. Unless your slicer knife has been badly abused or is used daily, I suspect the rotating stone sharpener is not really needed. When I have needed to touch up the edge of my slicer knife, I just use a diamond sharpening stone on it while the...

Maiden voyage of the 120 gallon beast.

There is nothing about your setup I do not like! The pit, the patio, the bar are all great. I can tell that pup will keep you on your toes for the next few years. Wish I was there...

My slicer is a 12 inch Hobart Model 512. I bought it at an auction about 15 years ago for an unbelievably low price, $35 I think. I paid 3 times as much for the sharpening attachment for it. Like all Hobart stuff, it is top quality and designed for daily commercial use. For my occasional hobby...

    Vacuum Sealer Bit the Dust

I bought my JVR Vac-100 exactly one year before you did, so going on two years of use. They are great machines and I can confirm all of your comments about it. I would add, they work great for vacuum packing wet-product like soups and other wet foods that are a problem with food saver type...

    Latest Bacon Project

I just finished up a batch of bacon to get us through the last of BLT and tomato season. This uses up the last two 1/2 bellies I found on sale in the Spring at Fareway grocery for $1.99 a lb. I cleaned them out of all they had and shared some with a buddy. Sure I won't see that price again...

Can't believe it - never used Cimarron

If you decide you want to trick out the firebox, adding a log starter pipe burner is pretty easy. There is a 1 inch square tubing with a lock nut that goes into the firebox underneath the CC. In a pinch you can use it for supplemental heat, although that's not really what it is intended for.

You may have additional choices (or fewer) once open enrollment begins. Seems like the list of insurers changes from year to year.

    Medical Insurance

We have been very happy using an independent insurance broker for selecting a medicare advantage plan. The good brokers ask about your health needs and shop the companies that fit your needs best at least cost. Not saying an MC advantage plan is best for you, but in our case we are generally...

Well. that was my duh moment

Cruise control on a riding mower? Never knew that was even a thing? I am sure she will forget all about in 10 or 15 years. 😉 There is a reason John Deere paints those replacement parts the color of money.

If you don't turn 65 till June-2026, you will need a few months of coverage from another insurer before you are eligible for medicare. I was in the same boat a couple of years ago. As mentioned, you may have other insurers that will work with your doctors available to you through the...

Here is what I did when I needed to remove the legs and was by myself. Find a level spot in your yard. Lay down an old rug to protect the paint. Tip the smoker upright onto the door-end of the firebox. You may want to remove the damper plate so you don't bend the rod-handle. It should stand...
