Basil cuttings, find a good plant and free forever

My first L4/5 didn't work so they did it again but he cut my spinal lining. Went back for a kevlar repair which didn't work, then had csf pouring out so a few days later had another repair, then almost died it when staff, meningitis and other infections hit my brain stem. Was so delerious and...

Basil cuttings, find a good plant and free forever

That's my next project. I do chillies in soil pots, mainly habs and cayenne, and then ferment them for 6 months. They are amazing and shelf stable for years. Just chillies and salt brine. Amazing flavour profies. Add in some thyme or caraway for extra oomf. 2 years back I got 4 kilos.of fresh...

Basil cuttings, find a good plant and free forever

I hear that Doug. Going for neck surgery soon c5/6 blown out, titanium fusion frame thing, terrified. Had the lower back butchered 15 yrs ago which went horribly wrong but still here and walking against all the odds I was up against when the infections took hold. Love every day now and make sure...

Basil cuttings, find a good plant and free forever

Nice going. Wish I had the room to hydroponics. Always loved the idea of a full on veg up top and fish underneath system. Nope, Isabella is spanish i think, def not Thai basil, which has slender pointed leaves, not the rounded rolled leaves of Western Basil's. The Thai varieties, like Holy...

    Fajitas!

Holy crap. That is a beast. The UK is so behind when it comes to grills. Most people are happy with a pre made insta light pack from the supermarket. Some get a "bbq". Then there are the hard-core who own a Weber, then there are others who kamado etc. But that, that is a thing of engineering...

Basil cuttings, find a good plant and free forever

Hey folks, My main love and career was horticulture, specialising in arboriculture before the body gave up. Here's a wee trick to get free basil. Take cuttings. Very easy, quick and if you love pesto or grilled tomatoes, halloumi and a handful of basil or use loads in your pizza sauce this...

    A Few Recent Random Cooks

Yeah was devastated. Generations of photos from all sides of the families gone. Always thought will get round to scanning them, blah blah blah. Well I did some but lost so much more. My granny in Africa using a Dutch oven from the 1800s, which my dad threw out as he didn't cook. But hey if some...

Thanks, no the UK is not London, far from it but it gets Londinified, if it does/doesn't work in London it must work outside. Nope. Lived there for 5 years. Loved (the salary mainly) and hated it but so glad we left. Outside the main cities most of the UK is gorgeous, however some of the cities...

    A Few Recent Random Cooks

Cheers Tx. I will. I lost so many printed photos in a flood 15 yrs ago and then the world went digital. I'll whack up some recipes, maybe with photos eventually as also had a huge loss when my new s21 died last year and didn't have the cloud on (the last 6 yrs of phones have had sd cards for...

    Slow v fast brisket, thoughts

Seen a fair few vids on low slow v hot fast for brisket which got me thinking of trying the hot fast method. Has anyone here tried both and see a comparable difference in taste, bark etc? Not overly bothered about money & time saving as it's my wife and sons bday this weekend. Got a load of...

This is a mile up the road from us. The "leat" was built around 1581 and sent water from Dartmoor into Plymouth until the 1898, or maybe otherwise round. Plymouth ie about 13 miles south of us and I marvel at the engineering everytime is walk past it with the dog and family.

Thanks for the warm welcome to everyone. As to weather not really bothered, I just figure my skin is watertight so no big deal. Great food > damp body, plus if it's really bad I get my eldest to hold the brolly. However I am in the process of designing a lean-to so I can cook dry whatever...

That was my first attempt some 25 ish years plus ago long before digital, may have a 'real' pic somewhere but lost many old school items in a flood after we moved north. Wasn't anything special but loved it. Neighbour was a metal engineer who bent and tacked up a coal tray, did some funky weld...

Drool, pulled nachos. I had a load of spare pulled pork and knocked up a rather tasty lasagne with it when Rach and I had the house to ourselves a few weeks back. Was almost like bbq sauce on a pizza instead of tomato sauce if you get my drift. Would definitely make it again.

How many people do you cook for?

Sorry for your loss, we still miss and "hear" our last girl Maisie who passed almost 2 years back. We had an American style fridge freezer with handle top to floor. Came down on 22nd Dec about 6 yrs ago She'd pawed the handle and pulled out a 3kg gammon I was defrosting. Luckily the door had...

How many people do you cook for?

Just 5 here. Me, my wife, 2 teens and a dog. I always overcook no matter what. I fire up the big boi, wings, drumlettes, steaks, burgers, chicken breasts, and that's for a random I "fancy a bbq" bbq. Nothing goes to waste. What's not eaten is used during the week for school lunches etc. When I...
