Building vertical reverse flow smoker. Pictures included. Please add any ideas.

I purchased extra temperature probes and leave them permanently installed in my smoker. There are three meat probes and one BBQ temp probe. That way I can use my two Maverick ET 733's with the smoker or on any other device.

Question(s) for 250 Gallon Trailer Builders

My fire box is 24" tall, so from the top of the trailer frame to the door opening is 24" (+/-) I used 15" trailer rim / tires.  The result is a good working height for both top and bottom racks when pulled out. I would not want it any higher but it could have been 6" lower and be just as good.

I'm gonna be driving you guys crazy

The four openings on the tank are most likely pipe threaded holes so an easy way is to go to a piping supply place and buy threaded plugs to match if available. You could weld them on after they are threaded in place to make a perfect seal.  Using one of the holes as a drain for that...

I'm gonna be driving you guys crazy

DaveOmak, I agree 100% with you as the way I did it required much more work in the RF plate cut fit process. I joined two 420lb slightly different I.D. tanks together which resulted in a very untrue edge to weld too. The R.F. plate was installed in four pieces that required a lot of cut &...

Hdbrs, No disrespect to DaveOmak............Each build will have different material restrictions. In my build, the elliptical head had enough straight metal to connect the fire box properly before the straight flange weld joint.

    My 250 Gallon Build

RigzCNC, congrats........... your smoker trailer turned out awesome. Question, where did you purchase the Bubba temp controller?    I have just completed my own reverse flow rig and I am having great success cooking the manual way but would like to make the next set to automatic temp control.

R290, The last pictures are of the initial run.................... I ran it with no food for a couple of hours to get the feal of it. Came up to 225 F in about 30 mins..........got a little hotter until I closed air intakes a bit to slow it down. I cooked chicken legs for about 3.5 hours at...
