Found the same thing I'm in southern Michigan, so I built my own. Even paying for 3/8 steel pipe saved quite a bit of money. I know you can get a horizon at bass pro but that's as good as I found without paying an arm and leg for shipping. Good luck!
Right on thanks! I have used the rub from the book a time or two so I'll have to try his other stuff as soon as it gets a little warmer out. My smoker is plenty thick to smoke when it's 20 out but no door gasket yet so, gotta keep it a little warmer. Thanks guys!
Hey a quick question for us un-educated. Is Jeffs rub recipe that he has for purchase the same as the one in his book? I have his book so I figured if it's in there I won't purchase it.
Do you guys think a 3 inch wide by 10" diameter steel wheels would be enough to move it around 6 or 7 times a year on and off a trailer? I like the look I think it fits my Pinterest pit pretty well.
Good question, it will probably be a little of both although Rollin on grass won't be for long if I can help it. Problem is finding the right fit for the look of my grill and still have it functional. That's my problem. Keep em coming!
Thanks for the input Gary. I'm not going to be moving mine much a couple of times a year so I really don't want to do a trailer but if I need to load it onto a trailer and take it somewhere do you think the steel wheels will roll well enough for a 700+ pound rig?
So, I've put my smoker together used it a couple of times and it works great! I have a couple more thing to do to her and she is complete. I'm having a real hard time choosing wheels for this thing. I would like to keep it more of a patio style smoker but at 700 lbs I'm not sure casters are...
That's what I am in the process of doing with my new smoker. I've just laid them in there on the rail I made and when I get it figured out I'm gonna weld little stops in mine so I can take them out and clean them and use my smoker as a big ole grill. It's all really fun! Good luck.
Thanks guys for all the info. My prayers were answered this last night. By brother shot a buck at his house!! So it's venison loin to go with a 20 lb turkey! I can't wait. I'll post some photos tomorrow on how it went. Merry Christmas!
Thanks Red! I should've made the stipulation that I will only have about 4 hours for the smoke, about the length of the turkey cook. I usually do my turkeys at or around 270 to 300 so they go pretty quick.
So I am in charge of Christmas dinner for the first time I have a pretty big turkey I'm gonna smoke for starters but my dad wants some "red" meat to go along with the turkey for dinner. I know a prime rib is probably the obvious choice here but I would like a cheaper alternative to the prime if...
