Welcome to the Forums. I am a beginner also and can suggest you smoke a "Fattie" for something that is hard to mess up. Choose either sausage or hamburger and go for it. Don't forget to let it rest in a cooler for an hour before cutting up. Fatties rule.
Remember: vegetarian is old...
I was wondering if some fireplace insulation could be glued on the inside or outside of the smoke box. Might be handier than a welding blanket if you could get it to work.
Great idea. It looks like a cool idea and should cover a lot of the bases for smoking. Lets see you smoking racks. I'd like to see how you place stuff to smoke.
Looks like a winner to me. If it tastes anywhere as good as it looks you should go for the title. I have trouble spelling jalapenos let alone smoking anything that good.
Hello T-Roy and welcome. Sounds like after the storms you should get the chain saw out and cut some short pieces up and split them to dry for the winter. A buddy of mine in Lincoln, NE used to let people cut up their damaged trees and bring the logs out to his place to dump. He'd cut to...
You look like you are on to something. Let us know how it tastes and what if anything you would change. What are you going to try next? I am going to saute some onions, chopped cabbage, and jalepeno's then stuff a fatty with that and a lot of cheese. Do you think I should put some Cajun...
Now let me know how this is working for you and if you would change anything?? I am in the middle of making my baffle plate on the Silver Smoker and plan on varying the size of holes somewhat like you did. I plan to put the plate the full length of the smoker and about level with the lower...
The only thing I noticed was the spicy peppery taste was stronger with the ones I smoked after they cooled. I liked the fresh fattys about 45 min after they were done better. They should freeze just fine. Only they might taste better nuked then?

I'm in the process of making this mod for my Silver Smoker Char-Griller. I am going to make the basket rectangular and put a 3/8 ths rod on each side to support it at the proper height from the middle of the firebox . Nothing in the Bible says your mod has to be exactly the same as someone...
Welcome to the forum. I'd say read the threads about Smokers like yours even if not exactly the same model and study the modifications. Then make up your own mind.
Welcome to the forum and I hope you have had more experience cooking than I have besides Grilling? I am fairly new also and picked up on "Smoking a Fattie" here. They are delicious and designed for the cook to snack on while waiting on perfection, I think? Good Luck
Welcome to the forum and I envy you the "Runzas" and "Valentino's" and "Joe Tess's". I hope you enjoy this sight until October and the Tiger-Husker game; then I hope you lose your appetite after the game for a while. I do think they hired the right coach there. good chow. Semper Fi. I...
Welcome to the site. Only you can decide; but I's ask the little woman for some input. I just started and I went with a Silver Smoker from Char-Griller and am in the process of adding the modifications. If you like grilling you should probably enjoy smoking also. Noting keeps kids happy...
Greetings from the south edge of Sedalia. Good to have another "Red Meat Survivor?" smoking the good stuff. Lets hope for better weather than today?
