I haven't had any time to work on this for quite a while now. On those rare occasions that I do try to make a little progress, I've been trying to resolve a couple flaws in the paint job. I think I'm to the point where I've tried to "fix" it enough that it just needs to be completely stripped...

Thank you Parman. Yes, any auto parts store should carry the Permatex. If you feel you need to seal the firebox door I would suggest a stove rope gasket.
