250 Gallon Reverse Flow FIRST BUILD!!!

Yeah I've been looking at other threads and I think I'm just sitting here at 1140 at night over thinking things. I just need to trust the #'s and get to work. It'll come together. Thanks for the reinforcement on the numbers. What you posted is pretty damn close to what I got +/- a few inches.

novasbc's 250 gallon propane tank build

How are you coming on this build Nova? I'm just getting ready to start a 250 gallon build and I'm really racking my brain tonight trying to wrap my head around exactly how high to mount my firebox. I'm done worrying for the night though. I think it will all make more sense when the box is built...

I promise I'll eventually post some pictures on here just haven't had the time. Plus I'll be out of town all next week so hopefully next weekend we'll make some visible progress. My first build - 120 gallon tank

I'm starting a build as we speak and I'm pricing firebox metal now. Is that just a standard circular saw with abrasive wheel or is that a special saw/blade? we have access to a plasma cutter but neither of us have a ton of experience and I feel like a saw is going to be a lot cleaner cut. Esp...

250 Gallon Reverse Flow FIRST BUILD!!!

Which calculator is this using? I used Feldon's. I know I've read there are some flaws but the calculator on these forums wont load for me for some reason. According to Feldon's stack should be 5% of firebox. my firebox will be 30x30x30 (planned) and it says stack should be : 6"- 47.77", 8"-...

250 Gallon Reverse Flow FIRST BUILD!!!

ok new question has arise regarding smoke stack. Right now my calculations have me using a 6" pipe 40" long. Is it better to use an 8" or 10" shorter pipe or does it matter. I think an 8" would need to be 27" approx. and a 10" needed to be about 18". has anyone experienced any pros or cons of...

250 Gallon Reverse Flow FIRST BUILD!!!

Sounds good. Thanks for the reply. I think I'm just gonna come in from the top rather than fabricate a box or the stack on the side. Thanks again for the response.

boykjo's reverse flow build 05/07/2015 update

Wow that as  lot of reading from start to finish. Glad I did it though. I'm starting a build this week that's nearly identical to this. SOOOOO much information on here. It's amazing. Can't wait to hear how the finished product performs.

    Finally starting my first build

following this one. That'll be a cool smoker with lot's of character that nobody will be able to duplicate.

    Insulated Firebox

I'm going back and forth whether or not to insulate the firebox on a 250 gallon RF that I'm starting this week. I feel like the pros outweigh the cons regardless of climate. My concern is that I want to put a warming tower on top of the firebox. Is this possible with the firebox insulated? I've...

250 Gallon Reverse Flow FIRST BUILD!!!

Ok everyone, another question has come up in the planning phase. In regards to the smoke stack, is it better to come down in from the top of the smoker or better to fabricate a box off the side that the stack gets attached to? Does one promote better/more even heat and air flow? I feel like this...

    New to the group

Thanks Joe. I don't know how it took me this long to stumble onto this site. I'm in several facebook pages but after everything I've read on here today, this site seems to be 10 steps ahead of any Facebook page. Nothing against them because there is a lot of useful information out there but I...

250 Gallon Reverse Flow FIRST BUILD!!!

ok I see. So like I mentioned I didn't see anywhere in the calculators where it said how close to my cooking grates the exhaust needs to be. Is this something that's imperative to flow?

Lol Where are you located? I'm pretty sure our town got it's name from a young indian girl that was killed in a battle close to here. However I know there are several other Indianolas around the country.
