Anyone tried adding charcoal to an MES?

may be a difference between pork and beef, just pulled the slab of pork ribs off, nice smoke ring a good 1/4 inch plus, cooked w/ same as the flat briskets that had none, or maybe the extra fat in the meat helps?

Anyone tried adding charcoal to an MES?

tried 4 kingsford briquettes mixed w/hickory chunks sat, and 4 cheap best choice briquettes mixed today, easter, on some flats, no smoke ring here either. so i guess its not the quality or cheapness of the charcoal.

    masterbuilt electric users

been doing a lot of reading about the 30 inch unit, but dont recall seeing a mention about the water pan ever needing a refill during an 8-10 hour smoke, just curious if it does, cooking at about 225 degrees. dont like a pan to go dry and have fat drip in it and burn, ruining a good smoke...

    rotisserie gave out

well, i took it apart, gears are trashed, deejay debi, if i added a hand crank, i would have a very soft temper and promoted a lot of health after several hours of cranking. you got the sticker shock right. guess i will do with out, unless i find one at a garage sale cheap.

wouldnt you know it, getting ready to do a whole chicken in the electric brinkman and the 35 year old rotisserie finally gave out after making grinding noises for the last year. only paid 25 bucks 35 years ago for a charcoal unit with lid and rotisserie, been transfering the rotisserie to...

    newbie from kansas

foregot to mention, the little country store down here has a small trailer type commercial propane smoker with a ferris wheel type set up that keeps the meat rotating. had the baby back ribs last winter, not too bad, could have been a little smokier, but hey, i am picky, saved me a lot of...
